The Well
Be Well-- and Well-Informed

"well":  source of supply

A ceaseless flow of pure water --
abundant; replenishing; restoring.

Often we're asked about the meaning behind our company name.

Think of "the village well" ....  recall the image of Jesus and the woman at the well. The village well was a community meeting place; a place to make connections and get information.
More importantly, it was the place to get clean water for the home and family -- a need that must be met.

Our simple goal is to earn an honest income while being your best source of supply for clean, quality products and professional services, and to provide the greatest possible benefits to all customers and clients. In the truest sense, this business is both a commercial enterprise and a spiritual mission.

And we are a place of healing.
Body, mind, spirit; we address it all. We take very seriously the privilege and responsibility of serving the needs of our patrons.

And we are a place; a physical place, located in the small historic town of Bedford in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. If you can't come meet us, call, email us or order online. Give us a chance to serve your needs.
-- Wishing you WELL, Linda and Ken Burger, Proprietors

A couple of examples of the kind of comment we have the joy of hearing often:

"Linda, in reply to your question, I am sure there is a health food store [in Memphis]. I believe it is called "Wild Oats". I have been there 2 times and will not go back. I love the great customer service you and your employees give. A true "I care about the health of my customers".
So, as long as you can put up with me, I will come to you for the great service." --S.E., Memphis, TN

"Thank You!  I knew I could get a straight answer from you or that you would look into it.  I tend to agree with you - it's an attention getter to sell products.
I am doing great, thank you!  I have not had to take the first Advil or Excedrin Migraine since I visited your shop 2 months ago - love that Mygrastick!  I am sleeping good - hot flashes almost non-existent - and the best part is I am down 10 pounds without really trying! Loving that! [This refers to our "Crave-Less" herbal formula, under "Tinctures".]
Also the last time I was in I decided to try Melissa (thyroid) and give the thyroid meds a break since I am on such an extremely low dose -  just to see if I notice any difference.  So far I think I actually feel better on the Melissa.
I will be in within the next few weekends I think.  I have a friend that just got back from Alabama and she is dying to come to your shop.  Will let you know what Saturday we will be planning on our trip to Bedford."

*NOTE:

(Although we are most certainly not medically trained and of course can not and do not diagnose nor prescribe, we can and do quote valid, scientifically proven information from clinical studies. We also cite observations from interactions with our customers and traditional knowledge at times.)
We suggested to M.M. that if results with Melissa aren't adequate for her needs, she try Rhodiola for improvement of thyroid function. Valid studies have shown that Rhodiola rosea normalizes endocrine function. In my [Linda's] own case, it freed me from the need for thyroid medication within a few months. This would vary according to individual thyroid conditions.
An excerpt from one study: "... R. rosea enhanced thyroid function without causing hyperthyroidism. In addition, the thymus gland functioned better and was protected from the involution that occurs with aging. The adrenal glands functioned with better reserve and without the kind hypertrophy caused by other psychostimulants."
