ONLY then is it really "aromatherapy".     What are "essential oils"? They are the vital oils distilled or pressed from certain plant materals: blossoms, leaves, bark; sometimes the root or seed, etc. Very few of the products advertised as aromatherapy truly are; instead they contain cheap artificial fragrances.  Read labels carefully-- you should see essential oils listed as the scent. If fragrance oils or perfume oils are listed they should comprise a minor portion of the formula; perhaps to add a nuance to the aroma itself.  Again, it is the essential oil which offers benefits. ["Fragrance Oils", especially lower quality ones, are what's used in the candles, soaps and other items which can almost take your breath, or cause a headache, when surrounded by items containing them.]   Are you aware of the chemicals in your skin care products? If not, you're encouraged to get curious. The skin is, as you may know, the largest assimilating organ of the body. Everything put on it is taken into the body and has an effect, whether immediately or long term. Look at the list of ingredients in your lotion; shampoo; cosmetics [even in the most expensive products] -- are those [often very toxic] chemicals something you would choose to consume? Keep in mind you actually ARE-- only through your skin.  A suggestion-- just be mindful. Read those labels.  It is your body. This question is a "no-brainer": If you could find a skin care or cosmetic product which wasn't full of chemicals, which was superior in quality; which did a beautiful job of healing, softening and making your skin healthier and was lower in cost than most of the "other" kinds of products, wouldn't you prefer to buy and use it?    ...
